Three handoffs that tell the story
14 years. No weight room.
A Planet Fitness franchise donated treadmills, racks, and Smith machines — fully outfitting a weight room the school had gone without for over a decade.
From 1 team to 3.
Three suburban schools donated football and baseball gear — enough to field varsity and JV football, launch a girls' softball team, and outfit boys' varsity baseball.
Steel drums to real dummies.
For years, defensive ends practiced against 30-gallon metal drums. Donated stand-up and shield dummies — plus shoulder pads — finally replaced them.
Every handoff, in order
Warren De La Salle donated stand-up blocking dummies to Loyola — the first documented Handoff.
Notre Dame Prep, Holy Family Middle School, and Divine Child HS combined to donate football and baseball equipment — enough to outfit the Motor City Chiefs youth team, Lincoln King Academy's varsity and JV football, Detroit Community HS varsity football, and a full array of baseball gear that launched a girls' softball team and outfitted boys' varsity baseball at Lincoln King.
Planet Fitness donated weight equipment to fully outfit the weight room at Detroit Community HS.
Catholic Central HS donated four stand-up dummies and a slew of new shoulder pads to Loyola HS — gear the program could not have afforded on its own. The pads let the coach replace worn, poor-condition equipment, and the dummies replaced the 30-gallon metal drums the team had used for years to simulate defensive ends.
Planet Fitness donated a full array of cardio equipment to outfit Martin Luther King HS in Detroit.
Cranbrook Institute donated lacrosse helmets to the varsity team at Bishop Foley HS.
Cranbrook Institute donated football equipment used to outfit the Detroit Prowl women's professional football team.
Power House Gym donated treadmills to Bishop Foley HS and to the Detroit City Lions youth organization.
Planet Fitness agreed to donate equipment to outfit a weight and exercise room for the Detroit City Lions youth community center.
Planet Fitness agreed to donate additional weight equipment to complete the weight room at Martin Luther King HS.
Holy Family Regional Catholic School donated a Nautilus Smith machine, football blocking and tackling dummies, helmets, and two baseball JUGS pitching machines to the Detroit City Lions youth group.
