The head football coach and Athletic Director at Detroit Community High School reached out to Handoff — Play It Forward looking for help securing weight equipment to outfit his empty weight room. Coach Del Humphry told us he had been coaching high-school athletics at DCHS for 14 years and never had a weight room.
Handoff contacted the local Planet Fitness franchise group — Epic Fitness Group, serving southeast Michigan — to see whether they had excess used weight equipment that could be donated. Epic Fitness Group stepped up and donated cardio and strength-training equipment to fully outfit the school's weight room.
Now the school's boys' and girls' sports have the equipment they need to better compete and to stave off injury through proper strength training.
