ORGANIZATIONAL AWARDS
In memory of Bernie Damitio, the Handoff organization will recognize one school district in each region of the country for their generosity – as measured by the value, quantity and frequency of donations made by the school (and its associated student bodies and their families), and also by the impact that their donations have had on the lives of the students of the recipient schools. All schools that make a donation leveraging the Handoff Frictionless Charity platform will automatically be eligible.
Finalists will be selected based on a combination of a quantitative scoring model (based on both a trailing 12-month period and a lifetime basis to ensure continuous and cumulative contributions are acknowledged )and qualitative selection process that will rely on testimonials from schools that received donations (these will be evaluated for their impact on the recipient schools and their student bodies). The winning program will receive a grant of $10,000. During the course of the year, a leaderboard will be published showing the level of generosity of each program.
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Individual Coaches and Program Directors will also be recognized for their leadership in driving forward the mission of Handoff through:
The generosity of their respective programs.
Their efforts in spreading the word about the program, and recruiting both donor and recipient schools.
Their impact within their school districts through support of student organizations that solicit donations of sporting, music and other equipment from families within their school district
Each Regional winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and will be considered for the National Bernie Damitio Good Samaritan Award – which will carry a cash prize of $10,000 – half of which will be donated to a charity of their choosing.
